Designing a Web Site?

This web site is aimed to give Web Designers a guide on making their web sites more accessible and usable. What to do and what not to do can be found under the section headed 'Web Content'. All the information has been carefully selected from reputable sources and used to create this website. Links to all these sources can be found under the 'More Info' section.

Who?

All Educational Establishments need to meet the new legal requirements proposed by Guidelines for UK Government Web Sites. The Guidelines draw attention to the recently revised Disability Discrimination Act's Code of Practice on rights of access to goods, facilities, services and premises for disabled people and the requirement for information and services on the Internet to be as inclusive as possible.

What are the Requirements?

We need to make sure that our web pages conform to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Guidelines and achieve the W3C validation.

This web site is only a guideline to Web Accessibility. For full Web Content Accessibility Guidelines please got to the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative web site or Guidelines for UK Government web site.
